CinemaQ in Denver, Colorado

Ah, the power of the silver screen to introduce us to fabulous LGBTQ characters and themes! Movies, from iconic classics to hidden gems, have been our rainbow-colored gateway to understanding and acceptance.

In the midst of a four-year rollercoaster ride with the “discrimination administration,” many of us found solace and solidarity in the comforting embrace of LGBTQ representation on screen. Because let’s face it, sometimes the only thing getting us through those dark times was knowing that somewhere out there, on celluloid or streaming, our rainbow family was shining bright.

But now, as we navigate the choppy waters of a pandemic, our beloved arts industries are struggling to keep the show going. Fear not, though! With a new administration on the horizon, there’s hope for a brighter, more inclusive future. In the meantime, it’s up to us to roll out the red carpet for independent filmmakers and artists, ensuring that their voices continue to echo loud and proud.

So, let’s raise our glasses (or popcorn buckets) to the power of cinema, the resilience of our community, and the fabulousness that awaits us on and off the screen.
